Our Mission

Knox and District Toy Library Inc. aims to support family interaction in the local community by providing a variety of fun, educational and age-appropriate toys for loan at an affordable rate to promote children's learning and development through play.

We are a community-based, volunteer run, not-for-profit organisation.

Our History

Knox and District Toy Library Inc was formed in 1976 (incorporated in 1988) and has been located at a number of premises over the years. The Toy Library has been in its present location since 1989 and all branches have now been consolidated into this location. Our current membership is about 250 families.


A committee of volunteers who are members of the Toy Library runs Knox and District Toy Library Inc.  The Committee of Management meets monthly and all decisions are made at these meetings which members are welcome to attend.  The committee is elected each year at the Annual General Meeting, which is held in March.

The benefits of becoming a comittee member include:

  1. Participate in making a difference in the community through the Toy Library.
  2. Interact with a great group of people on the management committee.
  3. Have your annual membership fee waived.
  4. Receive a free Party Pack hire every year.

The management committee is not only responsible for the general operations of the Toy Library but also places high priority on raising funds through events and grant applications to the Knox City Council.

Having a party or need some holiday fun?

Our Party Packs are ideal to keep children entertained and include our larger toys such as slides, climbing frames and water activity table. We have a range of packs available for hire and cater for children of all ages.
