Welcome to this term’s edition of the Knox Toy Library Newsletter! It’s been a fantastic year so far filled with exciting events, new toy additions, and wonderful moments shared by our community.

In this issue, we’ll take a look back at some highlights since our last newsletter and see some toys showcased. Thank you for being part of our toy library—we appreciate your ongoing support and enthusiasm!

What’s been happening lately?

Community Fun Day 2024

Last December, we opened the toy library for a special Community Fun Day, and it was amazing! Over 200 people joined in the fun.

As families arrived, they were greeted by a petting zoo and a coffee van. Out the back, there were lots of exciting activities for children to enjoy. They had their faces painted, explored ‘bubble land’, and played on all the outdoor equipment. There were sausages and popcorn to snack on, and children had the chance to pick out a toy at our gold coin toy sale.

It was a fantastic way to welcome the community, share what the toy library is all about, and create a fun and memorable morning for everyone!

Knox Festival 2025

Each year, the toy library runs a special toddler play space at the Knox Festival, a free community event at Wally Tew Reserve. The festival is packed with activities, rides, and stalls, celebrating local talent and culture. It’s always a fantastic chance to be part of this big community event!

A huge thank you to our wonderful volunteers who helped on the day, and to Helen, Eileen, and Colleen for planning the activities, setting up, and making sure everything ran smoothly. We couldn’t do it without you!

Opening Up in the New Side!

If you've visited the toy library this year, you may have noticed our new space is open! Thanks to the amazing support of local builders, Eltcon, and a Knox Council Minor Grant, we've made some big improvements to the second half of the Rosa Benedikt Centre.

Here’s what’s new:

  • More Space Inside – We removed old shelving to create a bigger, more open library with extra room for toys and activities.

  • Better Storage – Our outdoor sheds now have stronger shelves, making it easier to store party packs and outdoor toys.

  • New Areas – Puzzles and board games have their own section, and there’s a bigger indoor play area for children to enjoy during visits.

A huge thank you to Eltcon for their hard work and to Knox City Council for their support!

And we're not done yet – stay tuned for more improvements, including exciting updates to the outdoor area later this year!

Knox Toy Library joins the Disability, Access, Inclusion, and Support Program (DAIS)

We are thrilled to announce that Knox Toy Library will be part of Toy Library Australia's Disability Access, Inclusion, and Support (DAIS) program! 🎉 We’re working to improve how we communicate and share information, making our toy library more accessible and inclusive for all families. We are one of 9 toy libraries across Australia participating in this program.

By enhancing the way we connect with our community, we’re taking steps to ensure every family feels informed, supported, and welcomed.

This two-year project is funded by the Australian Government. We look forward to sharing this journey with you!
